PERFORMANCE FINISH · CRESTPROTECT
Engineered for everyday life.
A high-performance finish available on request, applied to our fabrics for upholstery, hospitality, contract, and automotive interiors. Oil- and water-repellent, stain- and soil-resistant, with antimicrobial properties. PFOA-clean by design — offered in both our standard C-6 formulation and a fluorine-free C-0 alternative. Built to live with people.
THE FINISH
Performance without compromise.
Crestprotect imparts a durable, non-solvent-cleanable, abrasion-tolerant finish that repels oil and water while providing a level of antimicrobial protection. The treatment is engineered for the fabrics that take real-world use — the hospitality booth that absorbs a thousand spilled coffees, the contract waiting-room sofa, the residential sectional that the family lives on.
Durability is a function of end-use and cleaning technique. We don’t oversell it. We tell you what the finish does and what it doesn’t, and we tell you which substrates take the treatment well. That conversation happens with your sales rep before you spec, not after.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL CASE
Five things you won’t find in Crestprotect.
The standard finish is built on Unigard 2620 from Unichem — a PFOA-free C-6 fluoropolymer emulsion. The legacy chemistry the industry is moving away from doesn’t enter our facility.
For projects that require zero fluoropolymer content, our C-0 version removes that chemistry entirely — fluorine-free by formulation. The five wins below describe the standard C-6 finish; the C-0 alternative goes a step further.
PFOA — ULTRA-LOW
<10 parts per billion in Crestprotect, compared to roughly 20,000 ppb in conventional fluoropolymer products. Three orders of magnitude lower.
NON-FLAMMABLE
Storage, handling, and application without the fire-code overhead of solvent-based finishes.
LOW VOC
Reduced volatile organic compound emissions during application and across the lifetime of the treated textile.
CA PROP 65 CLEAN
No components listed on California Proposition 65 — the strictest consumer-product chemical disclosure regime in the United States.
SARA 313 CLEAN
No components on the EPA Toxics Release Inventory under SARA Title III, Section 313. Reportable-substance burden: zero.
APPLICATIONS
Made for fabrics that work hard.
Crestprotect is engineered for synthetic and synthetic/natural blend textiles, including apparel, upholstery, automotive interiors, and contract goods. Where it earns its name is on the fabrics that get used — not the showpiece weaves that sit untouched.
Hospitality booths and lounge seating. Contract sofas in waiting rooms and lobbies. RV interiors and automotive applications. Residential upholstery in households with children, dogs, and the everyday accidents that the rest of us call life. Multifamily and senior-living spaces where cleanability is part of the spec, not a nice-to-have.
THE FORMULATION
C-6 fluoropolymer. Unigard 2620.
The treatment is built on a C-6 fluoropolymer emulsion manufactured by Unichem, Inc. — Unigard 2620. The shift from longer-chain (C-8) to shorter-chain (C-6) fluoropolymers across the industry was driven by environmental and regulatory pressure. We chose to be on the right side of that shift early.
For projects that require fluorine-free chemistry entirely — public-procurement specs in PFAS-restricted jurisdictions, hospitality groups with stricter ESG mandates, or any application where fluoropolymers are undesirable — we offer a C-0 version of Crestprotect on request. The C-0 formulation delivers stain- and water-resistance through fluorine-free repellent chemistry; performance characteristics differ in some specifics, and your sales rep can walk you through the trade-offs for your application.
Spec writers, procurement teams, and contract designers who need the formal documentation — MSDS, manufacturer test reports, performance certifications — can request the full package for either the C-6 or C-0 formulation from our sales team. We supply the same documentation we use ourselves to brief the workrooms and OEMs that finish with Crestprotect-treated yardage.
