About us

ABOUT · SINCE 1984

Built by a family, for the trade.

Crestmont Fabrics has supplied the trade for forty years. The family that founded the company in 1984 still runs it — and the principle that built it still moves the work.

1984 · NEW YORK CITY

A converter, by design.

Crestmont was founded in 1984 by Paul Harris and Judi Culmone Harris, with the financial backing of an industry legend, Harry Markowitz. Paul came to the table as a textile merchant with deep knowledge of weaving and mills; Judi brought the eye of a working textile designer.

They saw a need for creatively executed, fairly priced, quality goods — and they built a converter of home furnishings fabrics around exactly that idea. The company supplied piece goods to the wholesale jobber trade then. It serves the trade still — same business, four decades on.

“Integrity and creativity, in that order — fashionable fabrics at a fair, reasonable price.” The founding principle

WHO WE SELL TO

Trade-only, since the first order.

Crestmont sells to the trade only. We are a worldwide source for home furnishings, furniture, contract, and hospitality fabrics — from the designer working on a single residence to the firm specifying a hotel build-out across three continents.

Our main office sits on Long Island in Hauppauge, midway between New York City and the Hamptons. We maintain a booth in High Point, North Carolina during Interwoven every June and December, and we are available for showings in Manhattan and on Long Island year-round.

SECOND GENERATION

Family-owned. Second generation at the helm.

Cristina Harris Coffey and Michael J. Harris grew up inside the business — part-time work, summers in the warehouse, college, and then full-time after graduation. Today Judi serves as CEO, Michael as President, and Cristina as EVP. The work has stayed in the family the entire time.

Crestmont Fabrics is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBENC) — a designation reflecting our women-led ownership and leadership.

IN MEMORIAM

Paul Harris · founder, 1984–2016.

Paul Harris passed in July 2016 after a long battle with diabetes. During his illness he made certain to instill the values he so vehemently believed in. It is in his honor that Crestmont keeps growing.

SOURCING

A global network, with a North American backbone.

We use a global network of yarn producers, weavers, printers, and finishers to produce our qualities. A large share of our production stays in North America — across partner mills in the United States and Mexico — which gives us the flexibility and control to offer quick turnaround on many of our lines.

Our studio is open to custom work daily. Beyond the standing collection, we maintain an extensive line of piece-dyed solids and textures across a large color range, and we develop bespoke fabrics for window, contract, and furniture applications on a continual basis.

STAY IN TOUCH

We hope you’ll get in touch.

The website is a sampling. The collection is broader, the studio is open to custom work, and a sales representative in your area is the fastest path to the right material for the project in front of you.
